hi all, thought id try a different forum area for this, as i only had one reply in the other, (thanks nick), basically im thinking of a mamod loco preferably a kit built one. i was thinking maybe an older kit built one or maybe a prebuilt one if the price was right. a kit built would be better for a restoration job i reckon. any ideas or maybe someone has one they would like to part company with????

Sorry Rich I'm probably being a bit thick (something I do really well) but are you after building a Mamod loco?

I'm doing just that, picking up servicable bits here and there and buying new parts when necessary! It's fun but expensive, however as the cost is spread out it doesn't hurt quite as much!

Good luck

i probably worded it wrong, im thinking of buying a mamod loco, but as i understand there were prebuilt ones that were green, then there was a self assembly one that was black, this was held together with nuts and bolts as opposed to the prebuilt be riveted. so a kit version would be better maybe.
i do like your idea of building one, and i have been following your threads, but seeing as the wife is up for buying me one for xmas i thought go for it.
how much is it costing you to build one?

The Black SL1K's hold there value well as they are well suited to being repaired and modified so a good one could be a little more than a SL1.  But there again you nver know with E-Bay or you might get lucky in a local 'antique' shop  Wink
