I've only ever heard these engines refered to as Meccano 1929's
But I've just read a artical by Bert Love which was published over thirty years ago
Stating that these engines where infact on sale in 1928
So technicaly they are 1928's hmmm doesnt sound right
I wonder if its a printing error or a forgoten fact

| Bert's 1971 book, Model Building in Meccano, refers to it as the 1929 engine if that's any help. Could the article be wrong? The New Cavendish book would probably be the definitive text. |

I would think its a printing error
The 1928 date appears twice in the artical writen by Bert
And was published in Meccano magazine (CQ) in 1976
I'm supprised it got by the proof readers though _________________ Mike

I think you are probably right there Mike. All the documentation I have seen refers to it as the 1929 engine.
Gorgeous engine by the way _________________ www.steamtoys.co.uk

| I think mine is my favourite engine. Smooth , powerfull and hasn't let me down once. The SE4 would have had the same accolade until the rear boiler cap split along the bend! |
