Well guys its that time of year again, you know when I say a few words about the forum.  Smile

This has been a quiet year both for me and the forum in terms of steam engines. With only two added to my collection this year, and a few engines sold, its probably been my least active year! As most people know I have other issues to attend to at home with the family, this has kept me away from steam, although for many reasons I have got more and more in to my cycling again, which was and is, and will always be my first real passion.

The forum had carried on regardless with useful and valuable posts, Ive still been around, albeit sporadically. Ive got back to being a little more of a regular poster in these last few months. I note we still have a regular core of members and have also added a few more committed enthusiasts.

Next year we will be 10 years old, it seem like a lifetime ago when I set up the basics of what would become the framework for this forum whilst on holiday in Vancouver Canada.

In that time we have grown in fits and spurts, gone through peaks and troughs but always remained true to the ideals of the forum - that it should be free of overburdening rules, regulations and 'teams' and be solely focussed on steam and not superfluous 'filler' like many rely on.

Im glad those ideals still stand true today, although I still feel that the forum format is a little tired now and somewhat restrictive, no mater how many try to be creative with the format.

Im not entirely sure where my steam directions lies next year, most certainly it will now be taking a more junior role to my cycling, but it will be there as a great source of pride and interest to me.

Im hoping to do a few shows next year, Tilford, Kempton, Winterbourne etc... so hope to see a few familiar faces. I won't be at STIA this year (2017) sadly.

Anyway Im getting Off topic!... so lets keep it real, keep it on track and maybe have a few 10th anniversary threads in summer next year!

Wishing all members of this wonderful forum, the very, very best of Christmases and a peaceful and productive 2017.

Just a quick note to say Happy New Year to all our members, followers and admirers...

We are 10 years old next year and are still the most knowledgeable and respected toy steam forum to found, anywhere on the net.

Keep it real chaps...

Mike there is a way of combining both your steam interest and cycling a 'steam bike'

The photo shows BCLS member Peppe when he appeared on BBC TV with Dick & Dom he beat them but only just telling me the steam bike was quick !!!

Happy New Year to one and all hope it's a good one.

Sad to say, but it just feels like its dying here. I know I'm not an active poster, but to log on sometimes not for nearly two weeks and there's no posts is a little sad Sad

whilst on the subject of posting etc

Will anyone run an engine today, first of 2017.

If I can get time I may give that Wilesco D22 a run it deserves...

Maybe catch you laters...

Can I add guys, that if anyone from here is at STIA 2017, take some images!

Sadly we have language students coming that very weekend for a 6-month stay with us, so defiantly a non-starter...

Sorry I've not been as active in 2016 as I'd have liked. I have sold most of my steam toys now as my interest is heavily in the model engineering scales. I've been successfully running a 31/2@ Tich I rebuilt with a friend over 2016 and I hope to get it along to an efficiency competition this year. I also hope to have my 2" Burrell finished this year as well after a five year build. Meanwhile, there is another 31/2" engine, a Rob Roy, on the bench that wants finishing too! I will really try and post more of the goings on in the relevant sections.

I won't be at STIA this year either.. Probably not Tilford either.

Happy New Year

Will
