Just tunring the clock back that little bit further, a year or two.
The more common flat base with brass flywheel.
Another crank style

Just remembered that Mike tooks pictures of the MM2 and SE1 at Exeter on the weekend. I hope he doesn't mind me posting the pictures up (if you do, remove them).
Anyway...
The MM2 with blue decal and mazak flywheel from 1953...
And an SE2 with blue decal and mazak flywheel again from 1953...

From around this period lineshafts began to get a raised base too, as well as the familiar red oval decal. From my own experience a raised base lineshaft with this decal seems to hard to get hold of. Like the FB ones. Just my observation and not a stated fact.

My c54 SE2 hard a work, it was steamed at Exeter last weekend and put in a good show.
