Perhaps change the thread name to "I have a boiler!"...? _________________

I had enough trouble find spare hands and trying to see what I was doing in side the boiler and you want me to video what I am doing
is that with sound or with out if with sound then I may have to provide you with ear plugs |
With sound please Dennis, otherwise it just wouldn't be authentic (we can add the bleeps).

I have progressed a little more .I now have a fire box
and a Safety valve
lots of muttering with this I broke 2 X 1.5mm drill bits
to give you some ides of size the shaft is 1.6mm diameter threaded with 9BA and the larger thread is 2 BA to fit the bushes in the boiler
I wanted to put brass eyelets around the firebox vents but only eyelets I can find are brass plated so tomorrows challenge is to make some dies so I can use my arbor press and make some in sheet brass |

well the weekend is finished and I have made some progress.
no brass eyelets as I can not find in my shed the steel I was going to use for Dies
but instead we have
a displacement oiler with flange fittings
a regulator with flange fittings
a closeup of the regulator with the flange fitting
one flange screws on top the regulator via 5/32 BSW
the bolts holding the 2 flanges together are 9BA (damn small)
this shows the incoming steam line into the oiler
I have used flanges to join the boiler to the engine so it can be unattached real easy with out having to unsolder joins
I have used flanges as my attempts to make olives and crox nuts was a disaster to say the least
the flanges are 12mm across the widest point and the copper pipe is 1/8th OD
please excuse the close ups as I can not get my camera (cheap) to do any better. I think I need to sell a steam engine and buy better camera
and to top it all off today
Other half look at the boiler and asks where is the flywheel

Great stuff and an interesting thread.
I must admit to having a chuckle about the 1.5mm drills .. Been there done that got the bit stuck under my nail.
Try running your lathe at absolute full speed when drilling very small holes, a dab of tapping compound also helps stop those " oh sh1t moments" _________________ www.mfsteam.com the home of the MFTwin and replacement parts for Mamod, Bowman, Hobbies and Cyldon Steam Engines
