EDIT: New Video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9Cx128DQBM

I recently picked up two Bing engines (both with dynamos) from Robin Corsiglia off ebay.

The previous owner stated this one is either a Model 10/116/1(made 1914 to 1924) or 130/531 (made 1925-1929), I'm not sure which one though. Confused

The following video shows it on its first run "out of the box" or as arrived. (The only repair I made so far was replacing the wire from the light post to the dynamo and the light bulb)

I was only running it on 2 of the 3 wicks. The seals need replacement, and I was using the old spring belt that came with the engine. I was surprised this little engine even lit the light bulb without the minor repairs, and in fact it did quite well! Very Happy

After the repairs it should be a great runner!

So, here is a short video of it running in the dark. (I will make a video of it later running in the daylight and a few more at sunset so the light can be seen.)

And here is a picture I took while it was running (you can see the bulb is lit)

What a super engine Nick, a beauty.

As a matter of interest has Robin given up collecting?  I notice his website no longer seems to be on line.  His site was a huge influence when I first got into toy steam.

He sure seems to be selling off a lot of engines.

Several have been listed with very reasonable buy it nows and sold fast.

I do like that, not my collecting sphere, but a very desirable and photogenic set up.

A very fine engine indeed Nick.

Does it have a trademark stamped anywhere? My understanding is that the 10/.../.. style model number is Bing Werke (post-WW1), the 130/.... is the older Gebruder Bing style.  I'll check my reference books and see what turns up.

I too have noticed that Robin's website has gone. I've had some dealings with him lately so I'll ask him the question.

Back to you all later!
