Hi, this will seem like a silly question, but should I be able to blow through the inlet pipe and out the exhaust with the valve in any position. The engine will just about run on lung power, but I haven't tried it on air yet, or steam, as I dont have a boiler.
Thanks
Franco. |

I would imagine there should be some resistence Frank
I've tried blowing through my Stuart's and its near impossable
I would connect it to a air supply and see what happens
Post some pics of your S50 Frank if you get the chance _________________ Mike

Franco - if you get airflow from inlet to exhaust without any movement of the piston there's something wrong! I don't know about Stuarts but I do know steam engines and that definately ain't right. _________________ Stephen

Here they are, I tried disconnecting the valve rod, the valve seems very loose and rough, poor machining or worn?,...either way it seems they're destined for the mantlepiece for a while!

All fine looking machines, I particularly like the look of the last engine - German obviously, but is Fleischmann, Bing or Marklin? As you can tell german machinery is not my thing! _________________
