arrived today and in not to bad a shape. missing burner, whistle replaced with a screw which i am going to leave as thread is prob knackered and its badge from the base is also missing. anyone able to to me roughly what sort of age this is?

things to do are, take apart clean all parts, remove the blue paint from the base and make a fake whistle to cover the screw as do not want to remove it _________________ http://willstoysteam.webgarden.com/ |

Interesting pistons - not ones I've seen before. They look like Latimer's design and a lot stronger than the originals!
SEL's (and Merit) were made 1946-1965. I believe the full-base versions were the earlier ones (I may stand corrected), so yours would be '46-55 ish.

They caught my eye too, I have seen something similar, although I could not say if they are original and an alternative design.... _________________

I think I have a 'blank' SEL SV - the solid type if thats any use, plugs the hole! _________________
