Came away with the first turn of the spanner and no real force, cant believe my luck
Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy  Very Happy

The reason it was locked up was because the actuating pin was in the wrong way round with the flat end on the outside of the barrel. The actuating pin had forced its way past the spring loaded pin resulting in it jamming up and subsequently forcing the main body of the whistle to sit squiffy on its seating, thus making it look bent.

Sorted now and ready to go back on.
