before i take the plunge and purchase a loco i thought i had better ask as many people as i could!
so...
Will a bowman 234 run on mamod track?
cheers

Locos are not my thing but Im pretty sure it depends what gauge the mamod is, there is a choice of two I believe.

MTA is probably the man to ask Ben, he is on here somewhere
Bowman
The gauge is correct, Just watch the flange depth on the bowman though as i dont know the rail depth of mamod track!!

Paul, (Minor) will know...

Bowman locos have deep flanges and will probably not be very happy on Mamod track. They seem to run OK on Hornby, although they are not very keen on the sharp radius curves.

I've run my Hornby Clockwork loco on Mamod track in the past these also have deep flanges. Mamod curves are 2ft 6in radius, I'm not sure what Bowman's go around.

I was just about to say that I've run Hornby clockwork on Mamod track and it was fine!
The thing to watch out for is the back-to-back width of the wheels to be sure they'll pass through any turnouts and crossovers without hitting the checkrails!
Unfortunately I haven't got any turnouts or Bowman engines - so I can't check for you, sorry!

The Bowman will certainly not run on Mamod track, the wheel flange depth is too deep.
The Bowman will run on Hornby tin plate track, that's what I have. I have the two foot radius curves and it will go round them OK, but as I have no rolling stock at the moment and my 'indoor test track area' has a slope on it the Boman gathers too much speed on the decent and topples on the curves. If the Bowman is slowed (either with load or capping the some burner wicks) then it will be fine on Hornby track, but nothing tighter than 2' radius
