Just a quick taster. For once, I'd kept myself free of operating (except for Saturday afternoon) so lots of pictures.
The main event was the introduction into service of the restored WHR 'Buffet Coach' - the first of it's kind. Trains were run by our own Bagnall, 'Gelert' and visitors, 'Irish Mail (WLLR) and Baldwin 778 (LBNGR).
Here's just a quick look before I upload the main stuff onto Photobucket & YouTube.
In the early morning sunshine.
The interior 'serving hatch'.
That's my 'youngest' (Mark - 27) bringing up the shine.
Irish Mail being prepped.
Gelert being prepped.
778 on train at Pen-y-Mount.
Gelert on train at Porthmdog.
778 running round at Pen-y-Mount...
Weather was great - visitors were numerous - good time had by all (especially me - gotta-get-a-Baldwin).

Hurry up with the videos Steve

Certainly is an awsome loco, I much prefer it to Russell. Lets hope we make ours even nicer. Ie. Nice Valve handles. Did they let you have a drive? My photos a videos once the gala is over!

Having been actively involved for so long, it was great to 'sit back' with the camera, and reflect a bit. The site is maturing wonderfully. The stations and platform areas are quite nice places in themselves now, and of course the sunshine helps!

I thought I'd put some video here for the continuity. They're not much, just two short clips. I'm sure William will have some better stuff in due course!
Enjoy...

Apparently the boiler's on order and the chassis is off to Keef's soon, so 'our' Baldwin is finally being sorted.
As far as the 'did I get a drive' question, I'm claiming the '5th' on that (not wanting to confirm or amend Patrick's reputation!).
Great loco and just so perfect for our line.

Great stuff Stephen, give a flvour of the railway, as you say great when the sun's out too!
SillyBilly
If only the sun had stayed out for today, however, we do see larger numbers of passengers when it rains, so just aswell the railway is in Wales! One thing that suprised me about the gala was that not many people were getting off and seeing the progress on the museum. Hopefully this means they'll all come back and pay for another ride when it's finished!
Thanks SB, whos was the 'French looking' van next to 778?
silverfoxsteam
Nice pics & great video William - thanks!
(Some very loose interpretation of a 10mph line speed there - great stuff!)

Thats a Morris J Series, not sure the name of who it belongs to but the chap had done a marvelous job, a far cry from the one our chairman is trying to restore.

Hope you don't mind Stephen, but here's a video and pics of the Baldwin on its home line before it was officially launced into service.
