A bit more than just a clue

I picked up my copy from Colin today but it is available on the web direct from the publisher,  Headleys of Ashford. They are able to take orders from all corners of the world.

This is not a small book, its 262 pages in the A4 format and contains more than 350 pictures and illustrations. The book has taken Colin the best part of 6 years to research and put together. He has met many of the surviving members of the family and Max Bowman Jenkins who sadly passed away before the book was published. He has also met with several workers from the Bowman factory who actually made the steam engines and boats. The book is more of a social history of the family, its products and the area that they lived  in rather than just a book about toys.

It is a good read, the illustrations alone are worth the money.
Plenty for the steam enthusiast to drool & ponder over.
The family history is very interesting & includes some very herioc incidents

My copy arrived this morning  Very Happy   I have had a quick scan and it is brilliant.

Been looking at the old adverts, they are super.  Now I know where I have been going wrong when steaming my Bowmans - I need to get a pipe and a jar of Brylcreem   well done

My Book 2 arrived last week.

It's as least as good as the first volume Very Happy

I have just received my copy of book two and it is every bit as good as book one.  I have only just skimmed through it as yet but is fascinating.  These books are highly recommended, in fact essential, for any Bowman enthusiast.

Congratulations to Colin Laker for producing a work of scholarship that is also very readable.  Now that this work is available we have most of the answers to the thorny Bowman questions.  Hopefully, it will also put to rest once and for all most of the often repeated Bowman "myths".

ordered book 2 yesterday, cant wait.  These are unique  publictions at any price.
