The Future of my Collection...In a few years time I shall be going to University *fingers crossed!* and I won't have time to do all the shows that I do now when I do. My grandad would also like some room in his workshop as the engines will get very little use for the period.
I would however like the engines to be appreciated by people. I have been talking to some people from various local museums (Westonzoyland Pumping Station, Bygones etc) and some have expressed an interest in the collection being lent to them for the time I am at University, maybe longer.
Would you recomend I do this if they can ensure me the engines are safe and will be well maintained? I would also make sure there is insurance etc to cover the engines and I may even keep some of the rarer, valuble or engines I am more emotionally attached myself to ensure there safety.
I am not sure wether to let one museum have all my engines or to let two or three museums have a selection each.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

Local museum would be nice idea, Ill personally look after any Bowmans . . .
I think everything in one place may be too much by your number, possibly split them into two or three distinct groups?

Good idea Jim - just be absolutely sure that the musuem, or whatever, really do want them and will treat the collection with the care, respect and the security you deserve. It's all too easy for well-intentioned establishments to agree to accept exhibits before they've really thought it through. Once established, visit regularly in person or by proxy, and let them know! If you've got two or three interested and can't decide, try a year each. Good luck.

Thats a good idea Jim, and to be honest they would probably be safer in a museum than your grandads shed
