my shed late at night and they are making a mess
for a start they can not read measurements ,either that or they have short rulers
but here is a picture of what they have achieved so far
to give you some idea of there size the square brass blocks at the back are 5/8th inch ??? and the oval beams are 2 1/4 inches
it looks like they have left me the job of finishing each piece

Your Elves couldn't conjure up a pre-war Mamod twin for me Dennis?
Mamod Collector
You have been busy Den .........(Well the Elves have)
Franco
Metric Elves?
Scorpion2nz
not metric elves just the plain old common garden variety that still use inches
any way under cover of darkness they have been back
and left me with these
so I thought i would interfer and do a partial temparory assembly
and to give you some idea of size or lack of it
Franco
It's a happy coincidence that you and the Elves seem to be thinking along the same lines!!
Franco.
Mamod Collector
Ohh that is a small one Den, will you be making a new boiler to accompany the beam engine
Scorpion2nz
I think it might warrant their own boiler ,just something small and simple
Scorpion2nz
the elves have been back creating mischief
for a start they got hold of my CC and ordered some 9BA nuts from the UK
but then they heard that there was/is a postal disturbance of some sort over there so they started to make some nuts and that blasted leprachaun cousin of theirs Murphy arrived with the mail man today with the ordered nuts after all the required amount had been made in the shed
.Any way to show some progress I have sneaked a couple of photos
four parallel links down and 4 to go
and here we have the piston rod top eyepiece
now that all the widdle bits are assembled it must be time to make the front spacer then all the difficult bits start
Spokesmann
They are obviously good at complex linkages. Great work this will look great in motion!
steam123
Great work it will be grand to see it working

Brass filings and turnings ::and if i am not quick enough they veture inside and nick Chocolate out of the fridge (or was that the wife) and they make a house and bed down in the wood turning shavings
Scorpion2nz
Ok we are back and it appears the elves have been busy again
the stand is temporary so they tell me and the correct height will be established once they complete the cylinders
steam123
its coming on well
Scorpion2nz
somehow i managed to forget to post the rest of their effort
below we have 1 crankshaft with the eccentric and flywheel
Spokesmann
Looking very good indeed, satisfyingly solid too.
avenger
Good bunch of elves you've got there !
Scorpion2nz
the elves have been making an appearance at night again
but i think they were drinking meths when the marked the base for the cylinder
and it is still crooked i think they might need glasses
avenger

Lots of solid brass, very nice
Scorpion2nz
well over the last week or so progress thanks to the elves has been slow I have heard all sorts of strange mutterings and some strange un steam related words apparently the damn thing would not run on air .but today some one had a brain fit and decided to drill/ream the steam lines from inlet to cylinder out and hey presto success
the crescent/spanner in the film is 4 inch
silverfoxsteam
Brilliant Dennis - congratulations - a job well done.
The elves deserve a little treat I think.
It'll turn nice and slowly when it's properly run in.
