TE1 N&B canopy detailsWe hear so much about TE1s with nut and bolt construction. Here is the very early one . . . for some reason they are now referred to as smooth top ones . . .
Early canoy decal...
The smooth top!
Copper canopy clip....
Black ends were used on the ealry canopy types...

No idea Mike, maybe a few thousand . . . then they changed it to the ribbed topped canopy for some reason.

Thanks Mike for those pics. I'm lucky enough to now own 2 of these canopies (one smooth and one with ridges). I love the gold lettering and personally think it is better than the later red.
I'm not sure about your comment about black canopy ends. I suspect that this is another inconsistant bit of Mamod practice, Neither of my canopies have black ends and I'll bet that it will all depend on who finished the canopies, if it was a Friday and how close people were to clocking off that day.
Oh but what a great model and the main reason (between a third and half of all Mamod sales) for Mamod still being with us in 2008.

I have examined mine closely, and I think there is a good chance the paint is original.

Having looked at the engine again today, I can catagorically say it is original.

Im sure it is. I've seen this listed today. It's a very early canopy, but fitted to a later TE1a. Could be a very good purchase for someone. I'd guess the canopy is worth as much as the TE
