STIA2006 programme

I'm goint to try and load up a copy of the 2006 programme. Partly as an interesting historical object but also as a trial to see if I can load up the new 2009 STIA programme before the event. Watch this space!

Well that wasn't any good was it. I have the whole thing or thereabouts as a Word document. Copy and pasting it  into the message body seems to lose all the pictures and all the text except a few odd bits of text from posters.
Back to the drawing board. I'm sure there is a way somehow short of scanning the thing in from a hard copy. If my printers copying machine can see it all it must be doable.

Worth a try Fred! If it was converted to Acrobat PDF file it would need to be hosted . . .  Best way is to scan each page and upload to a pic host and link from there!

That's exactly what I am trying to avoid Very Happy

All far too tedious when it all exists electronically to start with.

 STEAM TOYS IN ACTION
AT

ABBEY PUMPING STATION

Welcome to the Sixteenth Steam Toys In Action at the Abbey Pumping Station.

THE BIG SHED.

This building houses the main part of the event  with around thirty collectors displaying their treasures. Many of the engines will be in steam during the event so be careful what you touch. These machines can be HOT.

The shed also houses the Information Stand where you can learn about Toy Steam in general and Steam Toys in Action today.

THE MARQUEE.

Here we have the Collectors Fair with about a dozen dealers. This is probably the best place in the country to buy new and antique engines, spare parts, accessories and literature.

THE BEAM ENGINE BUILDINGS

Squeezed in among our permanent exhibits are assorted sales stands and exhibitors as well as the Museum Sales Desk. Upstairs on the top floor of the Beam Engine House are the live steam toy trains by such firms as Mamod, Bassett Lowke, Bowman and Bing. In the Education room through the Beam Engine House are our usual Home made Refreshments.

THE GROUNDS.

As well as the usual permanent exhibits, Steam Shovel, Turbogenerator etc. there are visiting exhibits, the site narrow gauge railway, the Workshop block and the many Transport items normally stored in the Big Shed.

We will not be running the big beam engines today as space in the engine house is very restricted . Do come back on one of our other events when they are working, they are an impressive sight in motion. We do hope to run some of the smaller engines in the Boiler house during the day.

The event is organised by the Leicester Museums Technology Association, the active support group for the Abbey Pumping Station, with the enthusiastic backing of Leicester City Council and the museum permanent staff.

This guide has been prepared and published by members of the Leicester Museums Technology Association. If you would like to show your appreciation you will find our collecting box by the exit on your way out. We hope you enjoyed your visit.

Without hosting in PDF it needs to be in a pixel based format, I scanned every page last year for the infamous unexpurgated version! Laughing

It gets more bizarre. That was the whole thing saved as a web page then copied and pasted. One page has transferred but there are two copies of it. How odd is that?

THERE MUST BE A WAY!!!

An idea Fred - you can if you wish email it to me and Ill convert to PDF and then to JPEG on my big Mac in work? Ill host it and publish to web then.

Thanks for the offer Mike but I think for diplomatic reasons I need to do it "In House" so to speak. I could then post to either or both Forums without raising too many hackles or giving a reason for objections. I 'll have a word with our IT people at school next time I'm there (collecting the 2009 guide Very Happy )

see you Saturday perhaps

No worries Fred, just an idea. I agree about the possible diplomatic faux pas which may cause some bleating from some quarters . . .
