Spirit of Freesteam/Marion Hobbies Arrow - comparisonsI took the opportunity yesterday of getting the boats together for a few images. Here we see my first model boat, SoF next to my current project 'Marion'. The third vessel I intend to make will be built around the ME2 power unit, as yet it is unamed. I have idea for this one which might include a full length brass engine house . . . I need to get sketching on paper first though! You can see there is still a lot of work to do just yet!
SoF is longer by about 1"
These images show how the rear deck width is significantly different, the wider one is in line with the original Hobbies plans...
Here they are with the ME2 power unit...
I took the opportunity of trying the ME2 in the new boat, I have learnt much building these boats...
ME3 engine alongside the ME2...

I too have a boat under construction, very slow progress though

It just need a few coats of oil based varnish Mike and 'bath trials' can start. it has been in the water when I was testing it for ballasting.
Mike the kit is pretty easy to build, there is lots of scope for your own customisation too. Id get stuck in and put your ME1 to good use!

I've got myself a scratch build boat engine Mike
And I'm checking ebay out for a Black and Decker workmate
I must add I have virtualy no tools so I need to buy everything first

Workmate is very desirable, only tools I use are a good tenon saw, coping saw, a selection of files and a drill. The two things that are essential are time and patience . . .
