Something else happened in early 1950's
SE1's , SE2's and SE3's all went super heated
Before the 1950's all Mr Malins engines where hmmmm un-superheated
Heres a few pics of the not so super heated engines, there where a few more models than shown  Smile

SE1 and 2 were superheated from 1949 with the advent of pressed steel frames, about the time when Malins moved to Camden Street.

Where Steve Malins writes the longer steel engine frames
Superheated steam pipes and maroon carton where introduced in 1950  Smile
