Some Model Cars I BuiltIn my primary school we had a competition every year to build a 'eggmobile'. Basicly the challenge was to get a egg across the hall as quick as you can.
I took this competition very seriosuly! Usually spending a good 2 months developing my ideas. I tryed to build a hovercraft-which sort of worked but just wasnt fast enough.
Ill get vids soon
Anyway here are a few of my veichles
My first one...
Red Devil
My second one...
My best one IMHO. Went up and down the hall quicker than the others did one lenght! (it hit the wall at other end and span round!)

Heres my other 2
My 3rd one...
Red Devils Revenge. (Named that because Red Devil cam 2nd)
In its special box
And my final one- HMS Eggsterminator. As this was my last year i though id go out on a high! Alas it did not happen. It just did dougnuts!

What you all think?

Very clever Jim - thin wheels are better! lower co-efficient of friction, good to see!

Eggcelent work Jim
I like the look of the Black one, cant make out what you called it
As pics a bit blured, looking forward to the video
Merry Christmas

Ill upload the vids in a minute. There a bit crappy beacuse i was doing them in the kitchen and (because were having an extension) its full of all stuff usually in the utility room

Very good Jim.
I loved entering these type of design competitions when I was younger, too.
What made you decide on the propeller powered design? Or was that just a natural progression from the initial hovercraft idea?
I must admit, it's not the solution I would have first thought of but clearly proved very successful for you.
The twin engined upgrade was also a good improvement - in theory twice the power so twice the speed (ignoring other factors like increased weight, more drag, etc)
So I'm not sure why you decided to revert back to a single engine design? Was that to improve the streamline effect?
A shame the traditional driven wheel design failed. I guess that was the most popular design style. Perhaps it needed a fixed rear axle or even to be 4 wheel drive?

Maybe it needs a steam twist - ie best steam driven egg carrier?

what position did they come in at Jim ?

The main idea for the proppeller design came from seeing one the year before-but with the fan at the front. Being quite good at physics i realised it wasnt the best idea. So i moved the fan to the back. The hovercraft came later
The reason i didnt continue with the twin...
A. Took longer to build.
B. Had to be better balanced (did wheelys initially)
C. I faffed around with the hovercraft idea for that years competition so had to get something together quickly
Me thinks the gearings to high for it. But as you can see on the vid it did work. Think it depends on how i 'launch' it.
Hope that helped
