Single cylinder engine.Not in the same league as MF's offerings 
I got this little single cylinder engine off ebay
It turns quite smooth by hand
Possibly someones first attempt and model engineering.

There have been a huge number of plans available for this sort of engine, perhaps its simplicity is used to its advantage to encourage people to have ago at engineering. The basic machining skills that are required to make these oscillators will be required through out an engineers life.
Every body has to start some where and this engine is a good place to start.
