SE2 SE3 and tools on my new baseboardI have just finished mounting my SE2 SE3 and tools on a base board. For the purists there is a mistake or two (maybe more) in the set up my pic's ( I think) of my collection of Mamod engines and tools. Can you tell me what they maybe? Anyway here's the pic's.

Looking very nice, you can offest the pulleys on the lineshaft so the tools can line up better?
I like it very much.

Thanks I like it to I bougth the 25mm" thick board ( 60cm x 60cm square, thats 1"x2'x2" in old money) from Homebase who were selling them off for just a few pounds. Bit of a bargain there.
Not sure what you mean about "line up better" each pulley belt is perfectly straight ie inline with the lineshaft pulley to the tools pulley.

Les I mean so that sit more inforn of the engine, I can see they line up to drive correctly. Your're preaching to the converted here, I love mamod workshops!
Freesteam has a reputation of having the best workshop buildera round, we love them and our members have some pretty impressive set ups!

Do you mean the lineshaft closer to the engines or in a more narrow configuration with each tool being closer together side by side by moving the pulleys closer?

Nice Les - well done!
I like the white board actually, not what I would have chosen but it sets off and shows off each item very well indeed.
I've no intention of rising to your challenge of 'spotting the mistakes', (in other words I can't see any!).

Bit of both maybe, overall it works for me!

I think there is one which I admit is hard to pick out and you will have to look close. Shall I tell you as it may not be a mistake at all or let it run a little longer? I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination but I will give you a clue ...its age related but like I say I could be wrong. I did say for the purists remember

Thanks, it works for me and fills the board nicely I think with plenty of space between each. I must admit I do like the long drive band from the engines to the lineshafts with the tools a little closer to the lineshaft. I guess there is no right or wrong way and its more a matter of what and how you like to place them or am I wrong about that I intend to make a short video of them running and put it up on Youtube soon. BTW I only just (as in today) got the correct burner for my SE2 an eBay "buy it now" purchase as I kept missing out on them. The guy/woman selling it's got another and some other bits for sale. I wonder if it's a member off here.

Thanks for that MC much appreciated.
I did look at a few set ups on Youtube but they (tools etc) didn't appear in any particular order. I think I will stick with the way I have it set up at the moment as I am pleased with the results. I did put some thought into the arrangement but knowing very little about these things that's what I ended up with.

My two big workshops, I like smaller Meccano based ones now, but I get these two out now and again, plenty of lineshafts mean to can split drives and add a little interest to the proceedings...

Ok - I wouldn't have put the TE/SR Chimney cap into the SE3, but it's all a matter of taste! Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but that is the propper sized SE3 burner (i.e. a longer version of the square brass design)?

Burner is correct as far as I know and fits fine. Chimney ca,p yeah know what you mean but it's not that. I will tell all soon though as I know some people will rack their brains over it

OK here's what I think maybe out of sync with my SE3 and tools The SEŁ I believe dates from around the early 60s while the line shaft attached to it I think is much older having the oiling holes to the supports of the line shaft on it. I could be wrong about that and not that it matters a great deal. I did say it was for the purists amongst you. I am sure somebody will confirm or put me right if I am wrong about it. Thanks. BTW as a new member I think this is a great site with so many knowledgeable and enthusiastic members always willing to help with a query/question. Thank you.
