Royal Scothave seen that 6100 Royal Scot is to make its innaugral run from Kings Cross to Norwich, via Cambridge on Sunday 22nd February and after a five year £500,000 refurbishment.
This is going to be an Extra Special run because former Bressingham Museum Chairman, Mr. Bevan Braithwaite who so much wanted to be on the footplate for this same run, sadly passed away with Cancer back in April 2008 and before it could be achieved, and so his ashes are to be placed in the firebox, very shortly before passing what was his final home close to Great Shelford and just 3 miles from Cambridge, so that his ashes are as his widow Vanda puts it, "Blasted up the chimney" and scattered in the area he Loved so much. According to reports, it is also intended to give a long blast on the whistle to coinside with this, at the same time as hopefully, some people will line the route and raise a glass to him in his Memory.
