Ive gotta ask Avenger - I alwayd do - do you/will you steam them!

Clearly a few hours work there.
What colour green paint did you use, looks quite a good match?

Hi I have steamed the roller but not the TE, I do run them every now and again on air to help keep them turning over. The paint is plastikote garden green and as you say old_timer not a bad match, the firebox's are done in VHT.

Nicely done, Avenger. I know what you mean about finding peace in tinkering with steam!

Just taking another look at your resto's Avenger they really are good
Did you have to replace the chrome fire box on the TE ?

Having re read this thread and having looked at a recently 'restored' SE4 and the catastrophe which has now resulted (and Im not alluding to the damage to parts alone), one has to ask the question sometimes 'Does it need repainting?, does it need restoring at all'...
More over should some people be allowed to have a rare engine and then totally **** it up?
The old addage rings true... 'If it aint broke...'

Can we stop these swipes at each other over certain SE4's. Both forums are doing it and it is getting a bit boring. We all have our own opinions on restorations that has been done to death. Time to move on I feel.

Fair enough MF, I have had several emails expressing sheer horror and disgust at what has happened.
