Nickel painting (not plating!)I am currently modifying my Wilesco Roller (so that answer's Paul question about my project!) and I am going to paint the boiler.
Does anyone know if I can apply the primer to the nickel plated boiler without needing to do anything from the norm?

I would say not, the plating will be too smooth for the paint to stick to the surface. Plus with it being plating its not a solid surface to be painting directly on anyway. Remove the plating then paint it, you'll need a rough ish type surface anyway for the paint to stick to the brass below. I believe there are some very good etch primers you can get your hands on.
Thanks

Simon, etch primer is definately needed for brass... might be worth experimenting?

I've used Hammerite Special Metals primer in the past and found it to be very good:

This is very useful stuff, when you own an ally bodied Land Rover
