New member hello

Hello all- I am a new member from the US. Fairly new to steam as of about 3-4 months ago... so I have a pretty steep learning curve. Not a lot in my bio that is relevant - have a stationary Jensen 25 - cast base and a fleet of boats.

A Bowman , a Modeen and some old vintage home-builts .. nothing fancy.

I look forward to interacting, learning and swapping stories here.

Cheers from  Portland Oregon!!

Hi and welcome !
wilescoman

Hello there ! and welcome!
mogogear

Thanks all--I have just finished my Snipe restoration...

And I have read the R/R?R thread...

So lets say when I share the shots of it that I chose to stabilize the chipping paint around the bottom edges of the gunwales with the best hand -color matched paint I could mix up, repair the holes in the bottom but still ran new stain;less steel screws to secure the boiler firebox...

So I chose not to "refinish" really, but did want to make the hull water tight and usable as I am a "steamer" not a "looker" and I wanted to be able to use the boat as it was intended, IN THE WATER!! Wink It will have a few scrapes and nicks that bely her age, present and accounted for!!

Others are in various states of finish - The Modeen launch will be next to clear dry dock.. She is a kit boat and I have taken a little license with its topside...All though a very simple boat it will have a single servo set up and some TUG boat touches like a pilot house that was never in the original plans  as well a a fore mast and a front fender skirt. She was first reviewed in a model magazine about 1985 and it was shown then that a single servo for rudder could be added without changes to the hull- So that is where I am heading with her.

I also have an old Coast Guard cutter - that is getting a beating with my Dremel and now looking more classic launch style- just not as long and languid as the sweet English boats that I see so much of..She is equiped with a reversible twin and will sport 2 channel RC..
