My stock

Over the coming months, I aim to show you here my collection of engines and some of the rolling stock.

Tomorrow you will be treated to two Southern Railway King Arthur's!

For now though:

Bachmann Class 37 No. 37038 in DRS livery, fitted with a Bachmann 21 pin decoder

Bachmann Class 66 No. 66411 in DRS/Eddie Stobart livery 'Eddie the Engine'. Fitted with a Bachmann 21 pin decoder.

Bachmann BR 45XX 2-6-2T No. 4573. Fitted with a Gaugemaster decoder, but this needs replacing as it doesn't work very well! This engine will be for sale once fixed.

Hornby Class 73 No. 73107 in Fragonset livery 'Spitfire'. Currently awaiting repair after the discovery of a disconnected wire. Fitted with a Bachmann 8 pin decoder.

Hornby Austerity 0-6-0ST No. 7 in NCB blue 'Wimblebury'.

Hornby A3 No. 2505 in LNER Apple Green 'Cameronian'. Awaiting a new motion set due to a snapped rod.

Bachmann N No. 1404 in SR Olive Green.

Nice looking models indeed! Great to see! Very Happy

The 66 is very nice, I think dad would kill me if I bought an EWS one for his trainset though!

That will be a treat, looking forward to it  Wink

Some very nice locos there Simon.

Two 'King Arthur's as promised:

Hornby No. 746 'Pendragon' in Bulleid's Malachite livery with sunshine lettering:

Here she is with what I call my test train, consisting of 7 Mk 1's in Western Region chocolate and cream (love that description!). It is a mix of Lima and Main-Line stock and includes a miniature buffet, corridor stock, luggage van and two brake van composite coaches. I hope to boost it to twelve coaches!

Pendragon has recently been fitted with a TCS DP2X-UK Decoder, and was on test. Unfortunately when you turn down the speed too quickly, the engine acts as if it has hit a brick wall! I shall need to alter the CV's on that one...

Next up is No. 751 'Etarre' in Olive Green. I bought this one DCC fitted:

My favourite Southern livery Rolling Eyes

The cab detail on new Hornby locos is simply stunning, that on the T9 is going to be better with the gauge glasses and gauges being represented in perspex!

I have a matching rake of Maunsell stock for my SR locos, and they are every bit as good as the locos these days:

Apologies for the quality of some of the pics...

If there are any terms you don't understand, do ask!

Exceptionally fine looking model. Very Happy

Those coaches are super, and so is the 73

Brilliant, is the line yours?

It is the test track of my local club.

One O gauge track, then OO and then TT. The TT is only for one member though, so we are tempted to rip it up and put in another OO track. mwhahaha!

We are working on the OO track next week as it needs some attention.

Time for a couple more locos, first up we have a Bachmann 'Super D':

My example is in the early BR livery, and is numbered as preserved example No. 49395.

A feature on some new models is that the smokebox door opens, so that thos who have shed scenes could have a fireman shovelling out the ash.

Unfortunately though, the blastpipe and tubeplate are not modelled. Surely seeing as they went to the effort of making the door open they could have detailed the interior?

Now, something that I'm sure Mr. Jane will approve of:

This is my Heljan Class 52 (or Western). I chose this one (D1015 Western Champion) as 1) it is a preserved example, 2) I like the livery!

Different headcodes are supplied with the model, and I fitted this example at one end:

Because they kept breaking  down q27

Title of best diesel ever built surely has to go to the Deltic well thats what I would like to say but the class 37 must take the prize. As useful today as it was 40 years ago.?

Don't forget that they leaked hydraulic oil everywhere, Ian Laughing

Best sounding diesel has to be a Deltic.

Best diesel work wise has to be a 37 or 47, no question.

The Westerns were retired nearly 30 years ago, they cant be the best ever made.

I remember reading some where that there serious problems with the matching of the engines to the hydraulic system that meant they struggled to reach their designed top speed.

We like that new fangled lectric up here Very Happy

No waiting for a replacement Paxman engine for an HST here.

What engines are they running in the HST these days?
Spokesmann

Im not sure Ian, I know General Electric were used in 66s and 67s . . .

They are still very much in the land of living down here.

As for the Westerns - I remember them vividly as a kid, I can just remember the class 42 Warships in 71/72 as an 8 year old.
Spokesmann

The Heljan Western is better detailed than the Lima.

Number is wrong too . . . .

'Leccy since the late 20's down here Laughing

The HST's now have 'MTU' 16v4000 engines in them, giving them an extra 450hp.
