My first and still ongoing boat project..

This is my first boat - as she arrived.. 24" long and 4" wide at the widest point which is pretty far back..she was a defunct clockwork boat from Germany

The Dremel and imagination moved here towards this as she sits today-

Boat #1 is ready to have her rear prop shaft bulkhead installed as soon as I solve the boiler ( I have a SEL to power her)-- then I can finish the painting etc... She has a great sleek little hull that is made from the same firm wood that a Snipe is made from..

You really have been bittern by the steam bug Laughing
is it the sel marine engine you have?
mogogear

Yes- I have one in a Mamod MM3 ( I think that is the model designation) configuration, mated to a boiler and one SEL marine engine by itself ... looking for a mate.....

ME3 Mo? Smile

Thanks Mike....ME 3 --- exactly !!

So many folks around with Mamod variations in logon names I get MM goofy Embarassed

Anyway - I am hoping for a Meccano boiler or some such since they are fairly short in length( I have about 4"-5" max for the boiler) and couple it with one of my SEL marines. I should be able to push this little boat at a good clip...

How wide is the Meccano base plate that comes on the horizontal boiler / engine combo's?
Spokesmann

89mm at the boiler end, 65mm at the engine end.

Thanks so much!!

any ideas where to get replacement two bladed props for these boats?
M3 thread would be fine as i can bush and re tap it.
mogogear

Hobbies has only one 2 blade prop, the rest are 3 blades.. have you looked at those?

I hadn't looked, dont know why obvious place to look really. I will need brass props as i am particular about originality Sad
mogogear

Then I would just make your own- two copper fins soldered to a brass hub at 45 degree angles.. ( drilled and tapped)

Now mind you - that I could not pull it off - but you are much more talented !!!
