Re: My Final Offering Before STIAVery nice Ian. I like the paint on the frame.
Did you make the large gear? it doesnt look like a meccano gear.
I think I should put an exhaust on my home built twin.

Hedd, it is a Meccano Gear, No 27 (1 1/4" 50 teeth), I liked it because it has no holes, it is a bit smaller than Mamod and Bowman ones but about the right size for these engines.

Ian, as the saying goes "You've triumphed again". I hope this beauty and its siblings will be on display at STIA.

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm not sure it is as pretty as the opposed stationary but I do like it.
Te MFtwins will all be featuring next week, the Cyldons are now not going but I have a few nice engines in their place so it should make a reasonable display.

I think its prettier, getting the pipework to flow nicely is the most difficult job I have found. especially on a Twin.
You should make another, but with horizontal cylinders!

I thought about that, It would be a Mini SE4!
I agree, the pipe work is fidiy,I must confess to getting my dad's help with them. It helps on the twins when the pipes use the same ports on both cylinders as on this one, the opposed twin need to go in opposite ports, cross drilling and a litlte bit of thought whent into the position of the steam passages to hide them in the engine frame.

Yes I thought that when I was making mine, but I chose to make the frame like a Bowman, out of bent plate. I suppose my boiler is Bowmanesqe too.
I do like whay you have done by milling thick plate to look like a casting!, my hat off to you, they all look good.
I see you have gone for a steam 'dome', I did that too, I found that it made the pipework at the boiler much neater. With the union its very SEL.
Have you considered getting some decals made for them?. My guess is Spokesmann may be able to sort you something out. I've made my own for my first engine, and plan making another for my second

I've got this:
My brother has done this for me, I'm not sure about using decals, I was going to use them but decided against it on the replica's in the end.
I dont have anyway to print them out other than an ink jet and I have read bad reports of ink jet printed decals

I can understand why you didnt go for them on the Replicas, but I think they would be appropriate for your various derivatives.
They are all obviously inspired by Mamods pre war engines, so a Mamod Fan twin decal is appropriate.
I like that design.

Just incredible to see your work, Ian. I saw some photos of your display at STIA.
There were models I hadn't seen before and they just blew me away.
This latest of yours has the same effect! Well done.
