My Broadband (Rant, spit, scowl,etc)

What a flippin week, we've had very poor tinternet access since approx tuesday right up until now as it seems sorted at the moment (hopefully).

We use 3 for our broadband and for the last 18 months it's been fantastic (we don't have a home phone line as we think the line rental is extortionate as is skys service costs).

Anyway, in a nutshell, the transmitter, satellite, seance services, alien or whatever it is that 3 use to convey a connection has been "down" for maintenance with a possible time scale of up to 21 days I was told after phoning them to find out and identify the problem.

Anyway, now it works again but don't you think they would have the decency to inform customers beforehand ?


Off on a rant over and now I am calm.

They are all a shower of sh!t Jon, Im with BT who 'throttle back' the bandwidth in the evenings to something around 1mbs so as to make sure everyone has fair access and not just the big bandwith users, ie using BBC iPlayer etc, they dont throttle back their costs though. ISPs, mobile phone suppliers/networks, cable, satellite companies  -  all a robbing bunch of sc*m suckers - I empathise with you.

This broadband thing is a mystery to me Jon, as is the net in general-I can barely manage to use this thing! I apprieciate what it means to be without it however, as mine went down for two day's because some server was out, and since I had gotten rid of the tv this is my only means of entertainment for music and stuff.

Crikey MC thats a disgusting practice, when we got rid of BT it was easy. we just cancelled and that was that !!!

We dispensed of BTs services three years ago purely on the basis of the exhaubitant charges for line rental. We also gave Sky the boot because they were providing "Old Rope" for good money.

Looks like although 3 have let us down (first time in 18 months), things aint that bad really  Shocked

We manage with a mobile each for telephone ( the Orange Canary PAYG suits me perfectly offering free evening and weekend calls) and Freeview for the "Idiot Lamp" on the rare occasion that it's on  Rolling Eyes

It's all getting so complicated these days. What happened to straightforward utilities providing good public service eh? You know, the Gas Board provided your gas; the Electricity Board, the electricity, the Water Board your water, the GPO delivered your mail...etc...etc...etc...

Maybe I'm just getting old. (That is undeniably true!)

I wholeheartedly agree. Run for the good of the public, not private gain.
