Model Enthusiasts

A useful alternative souce for parts to keep Forest Classics on their toes - a bit of healthy competition never did anyone any harm Wink

Looks ok they are cheap enough

He sells on ebay too, I have bought stuff from him - cant quite remember his ebay ID though! Smile

Yeah, they do sell on ebay (id: modelenthusiasts), but buying direct from their own website is usually cheaper as parts are sold with free p+p there.

Overall on cost, they are quite competitive on their parts prices, but probably best to do your own research.

I just thought I'd add the alternative source as a starter, but they are reliable. Probably best to stick to the genuine Mamod spare parts though. e.g. I have been told their repro burners are not as good a quality as those available elsewhere
Spokesmann

Aye, the more the merrier.

There are a few others - Steam4fun is one - although I know some of his 'rebuilds' or renovations leave some people cold!
Chris

Yep, I have had good service from model enthusiasts, although the vap burners from forest classics are better than those from model enthusiasts.

I would say for mamod spares buy from the cheapest, but for copies of the old mamod stuff then stick to forest classics.

I just took a quick look at the Model Enthusiasts website again, but they seem to be struggling.

1. They are now selling a number of various non-genuine Mamod spares & accessries (not easily distinguishable as to whether Mamod or not) all at higher prices than available elsewhere.
2. Despite them still claiming that they offer free postage on Mamod spares

when you add any spares to the basket, you now get a postage charge added.

As it was only the free postage that made them competitive, I would now recommend using forest-classics or better still, buy from forest classics eBay shop (foreststeam)

If that actually works, you'll probably never catch it! Laughing
