Model engine design dataCan anyone advise any links or publications that would provide technical info about designing small simple toy steam engines. I am looking for info on things like optimum bore/stroke, valve timing, boiler capacity etc.
Thanks

I'm not sure this is quite what you may be after as it doesn't contain generic design data as such, but they are a good start to building toy steam engines and I think do include some designs for you to try.
A couple of books by Tubal Cain, Building Simple Model Steam Engines vol. 1 & vol. 2

Thanks Guys
Thats heaps to start with. The Home Model Engine forum looks great. I have some books by Tubal Cain (aka T.D. Walshaw) but not his ones on steam engine construction.
I have a Sieg mini lathe which I use to make replica Meccano brass parts and thought I would try to make a small steam engine based on Meccano bits, something like the ones pictured in the Freesteam logo above.
I'll let you know how it goes.

So THAT'S what that thing is! I have seen that picture before and thought it was some kind of pump. I will check out the web address you give.
Here are a couple of photos of my messy workshop and my lathe.
