Minor 2 Flywheel. The Minor 2 has arrived, if it has an incorrect flywheel then it will give me something to do whilst I give the whole unit a cosmetic fettle.
The base and flywheel (inc funnel inner) have been painted maroon like shade of red and the firebox has been painted gloss black with crunchy bits.!!!!. It all moves freely enough and the sv is functioning.
The Flywheel is 52mm in diameter and it has no grub screw, it is purely a pressure fit although it is more than secure with the addition of paint. The rim is 11.5mm in width and the hub is approx 12mm in diameter and 20mm deep. The hub protrudes approx 1mm past the rim face on the rear and the hub again protrudes approx 6 or 7mm past the rim face on the front plane.
I am equipped with nothing more than a tape measure.

Yeah and don't I just need some !!!!. There are some runs in that finish alright
I'm no purist on many topics but at least I always try and submit a valliant and presentable effort regardless of the task in hand.
I've seen better finished cake icing
Will the flywheel be OK with paint stripper ?

Yes it will be fine, I have done it many times. I had a rare SR1a roller a few years ago which was coated in textured paint - bl**dy awful. Good luck.

Thanks, I shall do the job as and when I can (sub zero shed!!) but will post a pic when done.

Having stripped all the paint of the base and the flywheel and getting them back to bare material, I have notjced the embossed marking FW2 on one of the spokes.
Does anyone know what this stands for ?

Would it be short for Flywheel (for MM2)?

FW2 and FW3 were the casting designations used by Malins, FW3 is an SE3 sized one, FW2 smaller ie MM2 or SE1/2/a
