Meccano Power Hammer in steam

This still needs some work, but you only learn by experimentation!

101 was more than up to the task...

Here are a few stills of the hammer. I have decided to alter it slightly now I have seen it going. Im going to get the striker cam to work in the opposite direction and ensure the spring is pulling the hammer down on the 'hammer side' of the pivot, a few other mods will be done too.

Overall Im happy,I like to see the engine doing some work and I love to experiment . . . .

Enjoy.

The 101 coped eaily willthe extra load when the cam was lifting the hammer end plate. In the end the 101 ran for near 1 and a half hours, the boiler and the lamp were not fully filled either! Shocked

I wanted a hammer which looked in scale to the 101 proportions...

Cam shaft with extra pullies for added weight and inertia. The extra belt is to smooth out and dampen the jerkiness of the cam shaft.

Hammer was made using my favourite French Meccano.

Work in progress...

Interesting contraption Mike  Very Happy
Had to laugh when you put your fingers under the hammer
