ME 2 and Dont Know..!!Sorry its been a long time since I last posted
Have been getting some health issues sorted.
purchased these last week....
The ME2 is complete apart from the crome cover.
I have had this engine on my wish list for a while, was very happy to get it.
Dont know what this is?
I liked the look of it
Anyone have any ideas.

First is indeed an ME2 well done!
The second is a Hobbies Bowman engine - Seahawk or similar. MF or Fred should be able to help here!
Hope you're feeling better.

Thought it looked a bit Bowman.
Wonder how it drove the prop

Via a contrate gear and pinion, the engine is very similar to that found in the M140 stationary engine.

An image of mine with cowl...
The cowl is identicle on the ME1 and ME3.

I think it is a SeaHawk missing the gears

A Seahawk can be seen in this set of shots from Fred...
You can clearly see the engine unit.

You are right, it is a sea hawk, minus its gears.
The boiler in the boat looked very large, guess it needs it.

The heat shield makes it look bigger than it is I suspect.

Sea Hawk is 28" long 5" Beam, Swallow is 3 1/2" beam and just 21" long

And the boiler?

Thats a biggish vessel..
My 'Arrow' is 25" and approx 4-1/2" beam.
Damn fine looking toy whatever though.

7" long 2" dia, M122?

Sounds about right Ian.

Can't add to the engine info, but very glad you've sorted your health problems
& able to post again

Found some info on bowman circle site.
MF is spot on.
7" + 2" for the boiler exactly same size as an M122.
The info claims 45 mins run time.
Have just run it coupled to an old SE2 boiler I think its very eficient with steam.

hopefully by the time the warm weather arives I will be sorted.

Look foward to seeing it running.

Have they arrived yet?

Have been messing about in the workshop.
Would like to replace the missing gears, but I dont know a thing about gear cutting
| have managed to come up with something simpler that does the job.
what do you think.
Anyone with any engineering skill should not look
They do work though.

Hope this link works.
Havent tried video before.

Ian (MFsteam make be able to help) Meccano do contract gears, although Im not sure if they will fit on the crankshaft, they probably wont as Bowman ones were a smaller diameter.

Nice little testbed there!

Thanks
I didnt think I had got the link right.
Ill try to do it right next time.

I have taken your advise and obtained some meccano gears.
They look and work much better
Ive also had another little play in the workshop and produced this.
This is my attempt at a burner to go with it.
What do you think

Not much wrong with that, the boiler cowl is very nice, just a hull to go.

Any suggestions
I have thought about an arrow, but it is possibly too small.

Great work Phantom, I love the boiler set up very much. I agree that an Arrow would be too small. I had a few problems squeezing in an ME1, the ME3 powered one Im am making now has presented a few headaches so far, although not as much as the ME1.

Its too heavy for the size and probably a bit small for your needs.
None of the Bowman/Hobbies plans survive, perhaps we should join forces and get some drawn up? I'm sure there is a requirement for a more Bowman like boat other than the Arrow. Bowmans are simple beasts 5 pieces of wood and a bit of tin. I would have suggested Celia May until recently but the parts pack is very poor.

Thats a very good idea regarding a more Bowmanesque boat design Ian.

An excellent idea Ian, I for one would be very interested.

Great work Phantom, very impressive burner too
I recently bought the Celia May plan & hull pack.
Sadly the hull is a very poor, comprising of 2 stryrene halves which i suspect wouldn't stand up to the use of naked flame & steam.
The plan is not too detailed either, just a full scale line drawing & very expensive at £10 + £5 p&p
All in all a bad experience
I'd be very interested in any plans for bowman/hobbies based hulls.
Even loaning me any boats for a few months to take sizes from would be good (of course i would need to test them out too)

I'd be more than happy to help you out with that arduous task Mike.

A Bowman type hull would definately be the best result.
I have a Swallow and a Snipe I could try to start with.
It has been a long time since I did any type of tech drawing so this might take a while.
I will see what I can produce.
If no one else has done it, then maybe it will be better than nothing.
