Mamod TE rear wheels.

Does anyone know at which point Mamod TE rear wheels went from the smaller integral hub to the fatter looking hub with cast detail ?

No but I know a man who might.

The changeover was certainly in the 1980s, like everything Mamod there are some engines of this period that have smaller ones (old stock) some the newer bigger type. Ill try and get a fix on a more accurate date but it was certainly in the early part of the decade...

Having another think on think on this one, Im assuming around 1982, when the TWK and TWS were introduced, unless someone has seen either with small hubs?

There's a large-hubbed TE1a on TSB dated 1979 (approx) - could that be right Mike?

Here's the link:

I wouldn't like to call that one . . .  it could be legit. As soon as you stick your neck out something comes along to disprove it . . . Smile or does it? 1979-82 is my final offer! Wink

Well I'm going to say about 1982. I think the TE was 'upgraded' at this time and had a couple of changes made to it. As Mike has said, the front of the firebox lost it's TE1A to allow for the expansion of the range and allow for one front end for a couple of different models.

The canopy was also changed with the litho sign writing being replaced by a cheaper sticker.

This is also the time when the back wheels were changed.

Now as always, the normal word of warning. Mamod never have changed models on the 1st Jan. They have a well established record of using parts up and the slow introduction of changes. But you'll not be far wrong with 1982 as a good working date. Very Happy
