MAMOD SP5/MECCANO CRANEA project I hope to revive when time permits. There is an SP5 in there, a few images never seen before.
Drive and manualwinder:
Hook/fairlead:
With the lead counter-balance weight in its cradle the whole ensemble weighs around 16lbs.

An early version of my SP5 crane. Note how the SP5 has been adapted to carry a Meccano type sprocket.

Ah OK Mike! Its a brilliant project I haven't done much 'Meccanoing' for a while now. I have a part built steam excavator but that has sort of stalled-anyone have a spare gauge glass for an SP3?
You still going for your goal of lifting a SW1 with this?

Well I revisited this project today and reworked a few issues on the engine. A cracked pinion wasn't helping (damn plastic type). I have set up a new gear transmission on it which seems better, just steamed the engine and apart from a leaking SV hampering performance it went well. Pics and a couple of vids soon - a qualified success.

A few images of the crane with revised gearing fitted.
Overview . . .
The culprit to the sticking drive...
New gear in position...
General view of the drive chain...
There is an SP5 in here...
I hate this stuff...
New gears (black) in position...
For those that dont know, I fitted a Meccano sprocket to the engine, its a tight squeeze and the Meccano sprocket was filed down a little on the brass bush, but it fits...
