MK1 or MK2 SP5?
They might, however there are very subtle changes in the position of ports from model to model, these can be even greater in the comparison of old and new engines.They might look close by eye, but really the only way is to visually check them and then try them and see what happens, the bore of the newer pistons is a little bigger too . . . its a very tough one to call, all I would say is try it if you can get your hands on the items first . . .

The only problem will be that the port holes do not line up, even if it doesn't, it would be easy to plug the hole, and re-drill in the correct position. Sometimes some fettling with the dremell will sort the problem

Thanks - if I can't get an original I may just try a new SP5 part. If It comes to that I'll let the forum know the results!
