Jones No0Lets call this Jones No0
I had a roadster as a kid, it was a waste of space, would bearly move itself despite nothin being wrong with it.
So I made it into a number of things, the boiler and engine into this
.
That was in 1994!
Because of the firebox cowl, the soldering of the steam pipe was far from successfull, though it worked, a fair steam leak developed.
Looking through my spares, It dawned on me that I had a boiler from a SE2 that could be resurected, also a Wilesco Lineshaft, and 4 mamod tools. When I looked at that old wilesco engine I had, an Idea emerged.
So here is where I am up to.

Anton Bruckner wrote a symphony he numbered '0' ("Die Nulte") - it was an early work he didn't consider worthy of a number! (Actually I think it's better than nos.1 & 2.) You're not a closet Bruckner fan are you?

Who?.
Seriously?, I think the engine is a nice job, the boiler is a pigs year.
From what I remember the engine frame was a pig to make, its made out of three brass parts soldered together. Trying to sloder the uprights was hard going.

Been in the shed most of the evening, mostly working on the Austin 7, but spent an hour or so on the base. Its a bit cold out there so I've just come back in the house. Progress
I wirebrushed the base, and gave it a dose of Jenolite yesterday. Now I've marked out the holes for the tools, engine and boiler, also glued on a large plate underneath, Tonight I've been filling the original Wilesco holes. The red paint is basically a guide coat.
I've also fitted a burner tray, I intend using a mamod Vapourising burner with this when finished. This will stop it wiggling about.
This base is going to take a fair bit of sanding and high build primer to get it something like, the rust has pitted it severly.
Out of interest, anyone have a close colour match for the blue mamod tools? Mine need touching up here and there.

I'd take one of the tools into the best model shop you can find and compare it with the Humbrol range, see if you can find a match. I used a matt green for the early tools and laquered the whole thing after. I find matt blends better than gloss.

Mike,
I don't, and I've never used one yet.
I think my plan will be to have the steam feed on the outside of the boiler and into the engine,
Then probably use one only exhaust to the chimney, that being the direction I want the tools to run. Unless I cross bands that will be the reverse position, so the top hole of the ports.
The opposite direction exhaust I will leave open, so I can use it to run the engine initially, and clear the condensate without filling up the chimney with oily water.
I ran the engine and boiler together earlier last night, it has loads of poke in both directions, so I hope ot will run the complete setup. If not I'll need to use a bigger pulley on the shaft. Do Wilesco make bigger pulleys? Its a wilesco shaft.

They do pulleys much bigger, for instance the D14 and D455 share a large flywheel with a stepped 'two-speed' pulley attached, the engine frame may need raising then . . .

Here is where I am as of today, the boiler has had a proffessional polish, and most of the bits are in place.
Just need a spindle for the grinder and some bands. I'm fairly happy with it so far.

That is a really nice setup, congratulations

Looking good, you have some neat bends on those steam pipes

I have, bending the pipes and soldering them took most of the night, getting them soldered in the right place was a pain in the ring.
I've got to remove the boiler band tonight to clean under it, I used a bit too much flux.
Once I've done that, I'll fit the two bands and run it.
Has anyone a spare spindle for a grinder or polisher?. I chopped mine up to make a cylinder pivot for my Jones twin.

They never came with any bases, just two ruddy great lugs on each.
I sawed them off forthwith. That was 1995!

Here we go, all done, I've put what is left of my grinder spindle on. The engine runs the whole lot no problems!

Well I can see SE2a or MEC1 reversing lever, SE3 baseplate, and SE2 or SE1 boiler . . . . The engine frame reminds me of SEL.

The engine unit, is the bits off a roadster on a home made frame.
The boiler is an SE2a unit.
Baseplate is off a Wilesco
