Hornby T9

A full review of one of the first T9's has appeared in the new issue of the Hornby magazine Very Happy

I am truly blown away by it, it is simply stunning. The issue also includes drawings of a T9, so get the mag!

The reviewer has stated that due to the die cast boiler and traction tyres on the leading drivers, it can easily haul an 8 coach train. For a 4-4-0, that is rather impressive!

It isn't out just yet, I get it slightly earlier as I'm a subscriber Wink

JC will be getting hot under the collar for one of those . . . .  Laughing

Can't wait,  the T9 has long been one of my absolute favourite locos.  I can just remember seeing them at Wadebridge and Padstow.  I also remember seeing one at Fareham station when we visited an Aunt.

I have lots of images in books of the T9s at Wadebridge and Padstow, as well as the Beatie Well tanks . . . Show be a good model. Any pics Simon?

Cast boiler sounds good, should make it run much nicer with that downforce, like the running plate on some Bachmann locos.

Only in the magazine, there aren't any online just yet.

I would scan in the article and post it, but I might be breaching copyright...

Bachmann use it as far as I know Wink

I like the Bachmann range, Hejan also.

My Co-Co Warship is a very well built loco. Indicative of their quality and attention to detail.

Most have plastic boilers, with metal weights inside. My M7 for example has weights in the tanks, with one having to be removed if a decoder is to be fitted...

With the T9 they had problems with the adhesion hence the die-cast boiler.

Most Bachmann locos are starting to get weighty boilers, my Super D has a metal boiler. I think!

Mike,

Heljan do good models. I have four of their 33's Shocked Plus a Western for good measure Wink

Any pics of the Super D?
