A very professional looking job there. Are you going the lag the boiler with wood at all? Although it looks good as it is!

rocket

will be useing beech ice y sticks i think with a couple of brass boiler bands may help in keeping heat in thinking about puting some rings on the pistons also it does lose a lot of steam from them
Spokesmann

Keep us posted,it does look an interesting project. Love to see a vid of it steaming. Smile

rocket

will do and if anyone can tell me how to post video will do .
joiner

Upload the vid to Photobucket then copy the html code and paste it in the post.

ok i will do a vid over week end

That is brilliant!

I would say you need a new burner on there to improve steam production rate Wink I don't think the ones that came with the locos were to good Wink

With your new boiler does the flue go right through to the chimney?

rocket

the boiler has cross tubes in a helix patern that go to the chimny

So its similar to a Cheddar models boiler! Very proffesional Wink

Have a look on the Forest-Classics website for the ceramic burners. You want one to fit into the main fire tube at the end Wink
wart

cheers for that will have a look now
steamyjim

I can't see them on their website...but i'm sure they make them.

Worth ringing them Wink They don't mind telling you where to get stuff if they don't do it aswell Wink

hello members opinion wanted do i leave boiler clading on or not ? what do members think

Spokesmann

In my view Id say leave it, the cladding certainly gives the engine its distinctive period look. Very Happy
Mamod Collector

Leave it on, it looks like you have done a expert job with cladding the boiler  Smile

A bit Off topic! I know, but is that a real bird in the photo or a ornament

thanks for the replys coming round to leaving clading on have had a go at posting a video cant get my head round it but will sort it maybe im a little thick ? will be making new pistons with o rings for the rocket soon just got hold of a small lathe  it seems to lose a lot of steam from the bottom of the cylenders .

Any progress on this??
SillyBilly

Only just seen this wonderful stuff! I wouldn't use a ceramic burner, because you'd need then to pull the fire some how.
