Can someone help me date this engine. Its my first flatbase got it a month or so back.

Beautiful Jim!!

1953 without question - last flatbases made as its got a mazak flywheel, these came in during 1953 and the flatbases went out of production in 1954.

I like that one a lot!! Wink

Yep £45 inc P+P Very Happy

Needs a small repair on the con rod but i was happy with it.

Not the rarest of flatbases i know that but good as a starter engine i think Very Happy

If you like it you may have a engine you want to swap it for COUGH SE4 COUGH Laughing Laughing

Im quite pleased with it. Start of things to come MORE FLATBASES!!!

What sort of value is it??

Around 40-50 is acceptable. An ebay buy?

Nice deal, Jim. Wouldn't we all like a flatbase MM2, made for only one year,
and bought for say, £15. Maybe you didn't "steal" it, but I don't think for minute
you paid too much, either. What can you get new for £45? And, what level of quality
would it have? You don't see them very often because they really are scarce. You've
got a nice MM2 manufactured at a special time in Mamod's, indeed in England's
history and a high quality engine. Well done...wish I had it! Wink

Embarassed Embarassed Sorry its just i have wanted a flatbase for a while and when that came up i though ill offer him and see what he says
