Hello1Hi!
I'm fairly new to all this, although I have owned a few Mamod models over my 26 years on the planet. I'm currently returning to the fray, and noted the relative state of flux that Mamod is currently in. Can anyone help me with who makes what in terms of rail locomotives nowadays-and which are 'best' in your opinions.
Cheers,
Steve

Welcome to the forum.
Depends which scale/gauge combination you're going for, if SM32 (16mm to the foot 32mm gauge, or 45mm if you are inclined to the wider gauge) this is pretty close to the scale of Mamod traction engines, then the best first time loco suppliers are Roundhouse ( www.roundhouse-eng.com ) or Accucraft ( www.track-shack.com ). But there are many more, this is a good page of links www.16mm.org.uk/16mmlink.htm (suppliers about 1/2 way down) and that whole website ( www.16mm.org.uk ) is a very good introduction to the scale.

Cheers for the warm welcome gents, much appreciated. As for budgets for a loco and the like, I'm currently looking at a maximum of £200 to get me started with a loco, and probably another £100 for track etc. I like the look of the MSS models, but I've heard that they can be problematic. Can enyone elaborate or offer their opinions.
I've also noticed that the new Mamod loco is reasonably priced-especially for a gas fired one!!
