Decals . . .Had a few spare minutes today, soooo started to try and get my backside in gear re: decals - these are only on sticky paper for the moment - but these are the final versions of the 'early' logo - which I have 'roughened up' on the computer. I need to get some proper decal waterslide paper now, and do a mixed sheet of varying designs . . .
These are 'drawn' from the real deal, and by the orignator. Im a little fed up seeing my 'ripped' off artwork being freely distributed by other collectors, especially when they are in terms of colour and rendering, totally wrong.

Looking good Mike!
As you say they really need to be on waterslide paper.
One small criticism (sorry, you know me, if it ain't perfect it ain't good enough ) but the top & bottom of the oval shapes appear a bit 'stepped' if you know what I mean? I'm not sure if this is the way they are drawn or a low resolution photo that has produced this effect. The forum logo doesn't have this 'stepped' appearance so I'm hoping it's just a low res. photo effect. Or perhaps its a low res. printer that has caused it?

Its partly cos they are at 72dpi and been converted to Jpegs, the actual files are vector graphics and that wont be an issue then. If I want to use the 'ageing' effect' I use in Photoshop I have to convert to JPG/pixel based format, however Ill render them at 300dpi then, should solve any stepping!!

Thanks MF and Avenger . . .
Well I have purchased some waterslide decal laser paper today - I can get 36 oval type logos per sheet, so Im going to try a mixture of the old type logo here, blue and red oval and the scalloped edge decals . . . will report back with my findings!!

i've had trouble printing gold before, it just doesn't look right, yours look good. what am i doing wrong?

Gold has to be printed as a special colour, it cannot be approximated using CMYK process colours, on mine have created a yellowy/gold and added texture/noise in Photoshop.

cheers, that sounds like one for my brother

Got the chance today to do some final adjustments to the A4 sheet with the decals - just a few colour tweaks now - I have based the colur on my examples - Im sure some do vary. Maximising the use of space on the sheet.
Once I have sorted the colour I will try out 1 or 2 sheets of the decal paper proper.

How much are we looking at per sheet?

Certainly not £5 for two decals as some Steam sellers want. Im looking at fitting around 36 decals per A4 sheet, made to the buyers choice - so if they want all Mamod 1950s they can have it, or a mixture, or even a mix of Hobbies (Still to do) and Bowman in with it. Im looking at around £10 per sheet.

Well I have printed out my first sheet this morning, taking care with the settings on my laser printer - initial results look very good - the acid test will be how they perform ie getting them off the sheet and how well they adhere and look on the finished engine or tool . . .
Will report back . . .
One thing is for sure - they are 100% better than some 'rip offs' available.

I have plans for all logos/trademarks and the like . . . just doing some tests, the stuff I have now is OK for light backgrounds, I need to try the decal paper that is opaque next . . . for the darker backgrounds.

Well the new decal paper is a resounding success and works well. The main problem I am having is in colour control - but Ill get it cracked. Just to let individuals see wht they are like Ill be posting up some example of my decals on my collection so as to put some of the swipes that have been levelled at my work from some quarters (not on here!!) well and truly to rest. Jealousy and envy Id call it . . . .

Here are a few images taken this evening - with engines displaying some of the decals. Im still not 100% happy (98% maybe!) - still need to sort out the overall brighness of the images. The sun makes these look a little brighter than they are . . .
1954 SE1 - this one although unsteamed had a badly cracked decal - so I have though sod it and put a 'new' one on

First the direct sunlight makes them look brighter!!
I do them in sheets - I tried some Bowman one yesterday - for Luton as well as Dereham Bowman. These are still my tests sheets really. They have to be 100% correct before I offer any for sale.
