Cyldon QuestionsHaving had the engine part of a Cyldon semi rotative engine as a child, I could not resist buying the more complete one recently offered on e-bay.
I am about to procure the missing burner, boiler plug and safety valve from MFSteam, but looking at pictures It seems I also am missing a chimney.
Can anyone size one up for me?, would a mamod item suit perhaps?
I assume it screws into the third bush in the boiler?
Can anyone provide me with close up photos of how the chimnet sits on the boiler, i'm looking to see if it is filed to a curve where it sits on the boiler etc etc.
Lastly the engine came on a flat aluminium plate, obviously fairly new, that in turn is mounted on a varnished wooden base with chamfers. My question is having looked at Roly Williams website, I notice his has an identical base, it it original, or at least a copy of the original? The rest of the engine has a superb patina and will stay that way.
Thanks in advance.

John Chapman can help here . .
I believe the 13/1 had a wooden base and the 13/3 an aluminium one . . . as did the 13/4.

Here's a picture or two of the only one I have to hand, my others are not here. The aluminium/wood base is as it should be . The chimney is secured to the boiler by a brass u clip screwed to the boiler. I'm not sure if the exhaust to the chimney is original as I have never seen it before on one of these engines. Its a nice addition though

Chimney is 3/4" diameter.

Photo of a Cyldon chimney - it is 1 1/2 inches long and as Ian said 3/4 inch diameter.

They're fantastic engines, quirky & a little temperamental, but it all adds to the charm
This one has a replacement chimney, a little taller than the norm.

Thanks guys,
The chimeny bush had been drilled out on mine to about 3/8, I have just soldered a home made bush into it, using 2 mamod safety valves and a spare vapourising burner I've just had it in steam. Runs superbly!
Think I'll doctor a spare Mamod Minor 2 chimney I have, and with the bits I'm getting of MamodFan, I'll have a complete and working engine. (Cheque in post today by the way Ian).
Newts, either your picture is fliped or I recon your engine is **** about face, the engine unit I had, and the one I now have are the other way around (like Ians)

The pic shows the engine ''as is''.
I looked around the net when i first got it & there's a mix of left & right out there. Which is the correct one, i'm not sure
