Ok, we know a bit more now!
The show will run from 11am to 5pm & will be held mainly in the Spackman building at the Cambridge Museum Of Technology.
We'll aim to get a pool built if anyone wishes to bring boats & as previously mentioned, there will be a 32mm gauge running track for locos.
It has also been confirmed that the museum will be in full steam that day.
As well as the main pumping engines, the steam operated incline railway will be in operation.

If you can bodge up some sort of publicity material we can display it at the next couple of Steam Days (April,6th and urban Rally June 28/29).
If you need a pool the Mark II should be semiportable as it consists of a big tarpaulin and ten 13 foot scaffold planks. Commissioning Trials are scheduled for the weekend of April 6th. Watch this space. You'd be welcome to borrow it but would need to organise transport. Otherwise the scaffold planks could be acquired from your local builders. Apparently they can only use them for a certain length of time and then have a problem of disposal. I hope to post a series of photos of the construction once it is all sorted. The tarp came from MachineMart for about 40 quid. Our only other major cost will be the electric pump to drain it although siphoning works reasonably well if you have the time

Thanks for all that info Fred - much appreciated, must admit that i don't know too much about pools!
I'll get some bumf to you before June, thanks again,
Chris.

Since the April steam day I can tell you that one hose pipe will remove about half the water when siphoning overnight (about 16 hours). Three hose pipes got rid of most of the rest in another 5 hours so in future we will be letting it siphon off overnight with two hoses. Should be just about right. Our biggest problem is finding a level enough piece of ground. The present plot means we have 9 inches at one corner and three at another. OK for steamers but yachts could have a problem. We will be floating again over the two day Urban Rally in June so stay tuned for an update.

Now the Cambridge Garden Railway Show is out of the way, the next model steam day will be the Toy Steam Day in August!
It's now been confirmed that there will be a pool in the main building for those who wish to steam up boats.
If you'd like to book a table/space at this show, please contact me now.
Anyone who wishes to stop over in tent/caravan etc, this is also possible.

It's the first time it's been held so visitor/exhibiter numbers are a bit of an unknown quantity at the mo - i can only be honest!
However, with a track to run Mamod locos on, a pool to steam boats in & a painted concrete floor to run mobiles on, we're hoping that all the infrastucture is in place...
Don't forget that the main museum will be in full steam as well so there will already be people coming to the venue.
I was arranging a full size traction engine to attend last night, so there'l be all scales there!
Just a tip - if you're thinking of booking the Travelodge, do it soon as the cheap rooms soon go, i speak by experience!
The hall is quite large & currently there is a fair bit of room, please let me know what space you require & i can reserve it for you.
Traders - space is free, there is no charge as long as you can bring your own table/s
Any more questions, please ask!
Chris - co organiser.
