burners !Hello again right then going to be buying the burner for my d32 next week Ive decided on this one from Forrest classics http://www.forest-classics.co.uk/bix%20008.htm just thought i would ask if any one knows of any other burner i could use ? i think it should alright to run it , the idea i have had is to hank the burner from the boiler with some brass strips because on the d32 its much bigger gap between the boiler and the base were the burner tray should go ! wish me luck !!

I'm no expert on D32's but the burner from Forrest seams very expensive at £42
If it where me I would wait till a second hand burner appeard on ebay
Or failing that I would use a Mamod burner of some type.
D32's still turn up on ebay and some go very cheap
The one in this thread sold a few weeks ago for £160, only 4X the price of that burner
I know which I would buy

I think with proper care and consideration for clearances it'll be OK. Im NO fan of electric heaters, glorified kettles with flywheels. This will be safer too I would think. Just make sure everything is checked and double checked for clearance and secure fitting, just a quick test firing should establish if its OK, the D32 has a big boiler but the burner looks to be a biggun! If not a custom made meths burner and tank may be in order - it will certainly be more controllable, something that size with a 240v hotplate underneath worries me very much . . .
Down with heater elements!!

Iam with you there about the heater elements ,paparods d32 its unreal how fast it gets up to steam its a bit scary !
The early d32 had a 1500w element a bit much !!!!!
The later ones had a 1300w element in them still a bit much !!
I think they would run on a 800w quite easily !
Saying that i think H20 as one running on a dimmer switch he had it running at STIA this year ! correct me if iam wrong !

All I would suggest these guys at Forest think they are the experts ! Ask them the question by email just in case there is a problem.
