Bring a Bagnall - 11th & 12th JulyThis year's Rail Gala at Amberley is going to be very special.
To celebrate the return to service of our Bagnall 'Peter', we are having a Bagnall Bonanza.
We are having at least two visiting Bagnall locos, possibly three.
Out of my own guesswork these are likely to be:
Leonard from Abbey Pumping Station
Armistice from the Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway
Possibly Woto from Alan Keef, but I don't know if this in service or not.
All this is for confirmation.

Nice to see 'Gelert' there, but I don't think she'd handle the curves very well!

Anything over 0-4-0 certainly won't!
We used to have the Baldwin now at the Leighton Buzzard railway, and when we shunted it in and out of the tunnel (Mainstrike Mine entrance in 'A View to a Kill ) it tended to squeal a bit!

And you'd probably have to send us a loco in exchange!

I suspect the Smith's would consider a trip away with the Decauville after its ten yearly (whenever that is started and finished!)

Er - I'm not trying to be 'funny' or pedantic here (!) but folks reading SB's perfectly valid comment, may, judging by his declared location, be mislead into thinking that 'Gelert' is a Festiniog loco which, of course, it's not!
Gelert was purchased, repatriated and rebuilt by, and has recently been the mainstay of the modest operations of, the Porthmadog-based Welsh Highand Railway (64) Co. (now the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway).
'Gelert' is a wonderfully free-steaming loco and has given me and my sons (not to mention my other volunteer colleagues) many hours of rewarding hard work and steamy fun! We're all looking forward to 'Russell's' return later this year on completion of a painstakingly full restoration at Gelert's Farm Works.
(I hope you don't mind me clarifying things SB?)
Oh, and I think Amberley is a totally wonderful place that's too far away for me to enjoy on a regular basis! How's 'Polar Bear' by the way?

PB is fine thanks, Steve. Her boiler is due to be lifted out in 2010 for its thorough inspection, and I think the start of its ten yearly.

Of course not. If you volunteer on the WHHR perhaps I know you? I'm Will, young lad who was working in the shop this summer.

Yes, of course, I know who you are now! You'll know my two boys, Mark and David and their mum a lot better 'though (after a summer in the shop!).
