Bratch Xmas SteamingThe Bratch Christmas Steaming attracted a good number of visitors despite it being a very cold day. The Black Country Live Steamers turned out in support and a number were in steam.

Great stuff H, I was going to ask how it went! Some very tasty machinery on show, loved the Meccano. I bet you wish you were in the line-up of scale TEs with Murphy! Let me know again when your bash needs a plug!

Actually just looking at the pics the part built one looks like a Garrett tractor

Think Id need to see it in operation to get the full effect!, interesting none-the-less.

It is very very clever. Each clip clicks down as the rope winds in and the harder the rope pulls the harder it clicks down

Not the Royal Chester, but yes the part bulit one.
If it is its a model agricultural engine, the tractor is completly different.

Your right looking at it again. Looked quickly and though 4CD but of course the 4CD's were always compounds (I think !?!?) For some reason when I saw it I thought it had a solid flywheel

4 = 4 nominal Horse Power
CD = Compound.

Never new the CD meant compound. Was that standardised with all Garretts?

dunno really, Garrets were strange things. They had a german designer, and he was mean with metal. The 4CD's got a reputation of being weak. As did their road loco's. One firm actually refused a 2nd having had big problems with their first.

Jim is spot on yes it is Harry's clip drum, maybe I should explain Harry showes a pair of 2" Folwer ploughing engines with a working model plough jim often gives Harry a hand to work the two engines.

Have you seen how far he's got with the Kitson? The last time I saw it was the pictures he had at Tewkesbury and was wondering if he'd gotten any further? He's going to teach me how to use it and the self moving anchor when it's done

Ah yes, saw them at Cheltenham, very nice. I also noticed that one was a BB, the other a BB1.
The nicest model there was a small (3inch perhaps?) 'The Griffin', a truely stunning model. Was it at the Bratch?
