Bowman 'Swallow'Just bought the remains of what I think may be a Bowman-Hobbies 'Swallow' at the Great Dorset Steam Fair for £15.
I have a hull with a 'newer' ply bottom and a good thickness of black paint, also a complete engine unit minus propellor, and a pretty rough boiler and some pipes. Nowt else.
The hull is 19 1/2 inches long by 3 1/2 wide. There is remains of cream paint on the inside of the hull, with some bits of red on the lower sections of the Outside.
Can anyone help with pictures of a complete 'Swallow'?, so I can see if it is what I think it is, and also to help me with the manufacturing of the missing parts.
Any help gratefully recieved, pics of what I have to follow.......

Well gents, I've pretty much sorted the hull, now I need some help.
I need to sort some sort of tube for the rudder, looking at pics of a snipe it looks like there is a nut on the bottom to hold the prop guard, can anyone draw me a sketch of this so I can make one up?
I also need to make a rudder, can anyone give me the dims.
Can anyone tell me what diameter the boiler should be? The one I have is very roughly 1 3/4 inch. The catalogue I have says 1 1/2 inch
And can anyone supply me with a firebox to suit, or draw round one for me so I can make one?
Thanks in advance

For my Arrow which is still in the making! ,I have used a number of extra parts from Hobbies, who make a rather nice rudder set up if you are noit making your own. That said I have found ebay a good source for brass tubing etc. Look forward to seeing some images of this project.
BTW Im sure Ian (MF) can supply some more images of his fleet!

swallowI dont know how acurate the following info is...
The boat isnt finished yet and some bits are work in progress.
Hopefully it will help.
The boiler is an inch and a half tube, the end caps are obviously bigger.
It is four and five eights long
The prop and rudder are the same sizes as the Snipe.
The rudder is an inch and three eights by three quarters.
The prop is an inch and a quarter across.

Re: swallowPhantom, the pics are pure gold, thanks.
Can you do me another favour, can you measure up the firebox. Length, height and width?
Currently got the car in pieces, fitting a new heater matrix, then 15 no 1 1/16 14TPI Crown Stay Nuts to make for my steam roller. Then hopefully I'll get on with it.
And yes many thanks guys the prize landed.

Glad you got your polisher OK! Next time maybe well try boat parts as they seem to be really popular at the moment.

SwallowTypical Bowman design.
The firebox is simular in design to the Snipe only smaller.
Length = three and a half inch
Hight = two inch
Width = one and three quarter,s
The outer heat shield is
Length = four and a half inches
Hight = one and three quarters
Width = three inches
Hope this helps.
