Bowman SnipeI've recieved a email from a Bowman snipe owner asking if I can put him in touch with someone who could restore his Snipe for him, he sounds quite keen to get it restored and it doesn't look to bad from the photo
Any one here fancy taking on the project, if so I'll pass on his details by P.M. so you can give him a quote for the work.

Sounds like an interesting project & get paid for doing it
What more could you ask for
Is it mainly hull repair & repainting

Yes Mike its a hull repaint, and the front cowel and rear deck are missing
It would be quite time consuming, let me know if you want the guys contact details

I'd love to do it, but SWMBO wants some decorating done at home first. I have been dragging my heels over doing the stairs & landings for about a year now & it's about time i got going on it again.

I'll gladly have a chat with him - couldn't do it right now, but I expect I'll have a bit more time in a few eeks time - do give me his details, and I'll let you know how we fare. Won't be the first restoration job I've done

It's done....I agreed with the owner I'd do it for a decent bottle of scotch and material costs.
Over the course of a few weeks I turned it from this:
(owners pic)
to this:
(in front, the one behind is mine).
Reglued, straightened out and resoldered the engine and boiler, made boiler shroud and spray hood and repainted the boat where necessary, using paintmatched paint, made a burner. Returned the boat to the owner, who expressed his delight.
Now my turn to express my delight, as I've just had a delivery from Oddbins, containing two bottles of VERY fine single malts (Laphroaig and special reserve Talisker), and two very nice bottles of wine!
Needless to say this gent will not be charged for the £20 of materials I threw at his boat. If you ever have the opportunity to do a Coll McDonnell a good turn, I suggest you take it!

Walked around Greenwich at the weekend & i think they're looking for someone to do a restoration job on a boat nearby. Cutty Sark no less, surely within your capabilities

Sadly no meths or fuel tablets anywhere near either of these boats
Couldn't really see much under all the scaffold & tarpaulin
Not sure how long the rebuild is going to take
